On Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m., Commissioner Causey will unveil the new fire rating at the Asheville Fire Department.

The department recently underwent an inspection by the Office of State Fire Marshal. A fire department’s rating affects homeowners and business insurance premiums and helps signal how prepared firefighters are at responding to calls and battling blazes in their fire district.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Andrew Konrad Roesch, 56, of 7037 N.C. Highway 751, Durham, was charged with three misdemeanor counts of failing to perform fire inspection duties in Durham County Schools.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Roesch of failing to perform alarm tests and inspecting fire alarms at Fayetteville Street, Southwest and Hillandale elementary schools, all in Durham County.
