Fire and Rescue Commission
The North Carolina Fire Commission was transferred to the North Carolina Department of Insurance in October, 1985 and has since supported it with personnel, budget, etc. In July, 1989, the Legislature passed a Bill which changed the makeup of the Commission from The Fire Commission to the Fire and Rescue Commission, adding responsibilities in the area of rescue as was previously held for fire. The Department of Insurance serves as staff to the Commission, with the Commission currently having a permanent staff of seven.
Policies & Procedures
The North Carolina State Fire & Rescue Commission is governed by the terms of Article 78 of Chapter 58 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. In addition, it complies with the bylaws for its internal management, as well as the Administrative Procedures Act that clarifies additional duties.
