Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey will join the Greensboro Fire Department on Saturday, June 4th to officially kick off Smoke Alarm Saturday.
Smoke Alarm Saturday is our annual one-day, statewide smoke alarm canvassing event designed to bring awareness of the need to have working smoke alarms in homes.
Starting at 9 a.m., Commissioner Causey and firefighters from the Greensboro Fire Department will be going door-to-door in the community to check homes and install new smoke alarms when necessary.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present checks to five emergency response units in three counties and present a special award during visits scheduled on Monday, May 23.
Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will present $5,000 grant checks each to the Ashe County Rescue Squad, Mountain Park Rescue Squad, Elkin Emergency Rescue Squad, Wilkes County Rescue Squad and Alleghany Rescue Squad.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present 12 grant checks to emergency response units in eight counties and present an Order of the Guardian Award during a two-day trip to the eastern part of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 10-11.
Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will present grant checks to units in Hertford, Bertie, Northampton, Halifax, Beaufort, Washington, Martin and Edgecombe counties.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on Thursday, May 5, will honor 11 High Point firefighters who performed lifesaving rescues earlier this year.
In addition, Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will present awards to a couple who have served the Southeast Volunteer Fire Department since 1988.
Commissioner Causey will also present grant checks to first responder organizations during his visit to Guilford and Randolph counties.

According to news reports, Anson Everette, a junior at Harnett Central High School, used the Heimlich maneuver to save an 80-year-old woman who was choking at a Hardee's restaurant in Lillington.
