2022 Supplemental Grant

Per recent legislation (NC G.S. 58-87-1, modified in Session Law 2021-180), eligible fire departments may apply for a supplemental grant to be used to purchase equipment and make capital expenditures. 

This grant cannot exceed thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) and does not require a cash match. 

Grant funds will be disbursed to eligible fire departments in single lump-sum payments. 

All eligible fire departments may apply and must meet the current 9S requirements and the requirements of the Volunteer Fire Department Fund Grant.

All 2022 Supplemental Grant applications MUST be submitted no later than May 1, 2022. 

COVID-19 Relief Fund Grant

Per recent legislation (Senate Bill 105, Section 30.2(b)), funds have been allotted to provide grants to eligible fire departments in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000). These funds are to help reduce the financial impact of COVID-19 and the ability of departments to hold fundraisers to increase revenue.

This grant does not require a match by the fire department.

Eligible fire departments must meet all current 9S requirements. 

Fire departments must also meet the requirements of the Volunteer Fire Department Fund grant:

  • Department is all volunteer, with the exception of six (6) paid positions.
  • Department must be currently reporting to NFIRS.
  • Department must be recognized as rated/certified by NC Department of Insurance. 
  • Department must have a current charter and written contract on file with OSFM for all counties and/or municipalities served.
