School Maintenance Electrician Prep Course and Examination
 

June 29th (Optional Prep Course) & June 30th (Examination), 2023
9 AM - 3 PM Both Days

The Prep Course is not required to take the Examination 

Class and Exam may be rescheduled for inclement weather.

** Class and Exam may be cancelled or limited without ample notice due to COVID-19 (or similar) concerns with gatherings

** Emailing Applications is highly encouraged

** All exam questions will be based on the 2020 NEC

The open lot for visitor parking is available directly in front of the building. Entrance is in the back near the flag poles.

Must have Government Issued Identification to enter the building and take the Examination
Pocket Knives and Similar Objects are Not Allowed in the building 
Bring: Government Issued ID (typically a Driver’s License), 2020 NEC (No Handbooks), Pencils, Erasers, Basic Calculator (No Scientific Calculators), Eyeglasses, and extra clothing/sweater.

Also, bring your drinks and non-microwavable lunch/snacks with you! The class and exam does not stop for lunch.  

Applications for certification as a school maintenance electrician are provided below. 

All inquiries shall be made to Joseph D. Starling, the Chief State Electrical Engineer at 919-397-6159.

Complete applications shall be scanned and emailed to joseph.starling@ncdoi.gov (encouraged), or mailed to 1202 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1202, Attention: Joseph D. Starling.
All applicants will be issued an approval or denial prior to the date of the examination.
