CARY, N.C. – The NC Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals invite members of the media to attend a special Save-A-Life recognition event and the premiere of a new documentary detailing the remarkable story of Ginger Peters, whose life was forever changed following a devastating sparkler-related fire.

The documentary follows Ginger's journey from injury to recovery and highlights the extraordinary chain of survival that helped save her life. Through interviews and firsthand accounts, the film also explores the hidden dangers of sparklers and the science behind why these popular Fourth of July items can cause life-altering injuries in seconds.

The Save-A-Life event will recognize the first responders, EMS professionals, firefighters, healthcare teams, and community members whose dedication, compassion, and teamwork made Ginger's recovery possible. Through her personal remarks and the premiere of the documentary, Ginger's story delivers a powerful message about sparkler safety ahead of the Independence Day holiday.
