Public Records Request

Requests for public records from the Office of the State Fire Marshal can be submitted via email to OSFM.PublicRecords@ncdoi.gov. When submitting a request, we encourage you to include as much detail as possible – such as dates, subject matter, or specific types of documents – to help our staff identify and locate any responsive records. OSFM will provide requested records as promptly as possible, but please note that the time required may vary depending on the scope and complexity of the request.

In accordance with North Carolina law, a copying charge of 50 cents per page applies to requests for physical copies that exceed just a few pages. For larger requests, you may be asked to submit payment in advance. An invoice will be provided if applicable.

After a legal review, any requested records which are public will be released to you in a timely manner.
