Causey to attend topping out ceremony in Fayetteville Monday

-

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on Monday will be attending the Fayetteville Technical Community College-Cumberland County Regional Fire and Training Center Topping Out ceremony.

Commissioner Causey will sign the last steel beam before it is installed in the training facilities at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20. The FTCC-Cumberland County Regional Fire and Training Center is located at 775 Tom Starling Road, Fayetteville, N.C. 28306.

The topping out ceremony is a tradition to commemorate the placement of the last steel beam within the structure.

The 26,000-square-foot building will house the classrooms, apparatus bays, simulations labs, a conference room, offices, a technical rescue complex with a four-story training tower and a three-story burn building where live burning exercises can be conducted. This is the first phase of the $20 million fire and rescue training center project that will continue over the next two years.

The facility’s plans will include the first indoor swift-water rescue training facility in North Carolina and neighboring states.
