The Safe Kids N.C. team is partnering with law enforcement agencies and first responders to ensure children are secured in a properly installed child safety seat when riding in a vehicle to save lives.

As a result of the social distancing guidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic, our homes have become our offices, schools and playgrounds. With children spending more time at home while parents are navigating priorities, it is challenging to stay focused on everything at once which means that injuries for kids may be on the rise.

As the Memorial Day weekend holiday approaches and the summer swimming season kicks into full gear, Insurance Commissioner and Safe Kids NC Chair Mike Causey reminds parents and caregivers about the importance of water safety to reduce child drownings in pools and all bodies of open water.

As the summer heat cranks up in North Carolina, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey and Safe Kids North Carolina reminds people of the dangers of leaving children in cars by re-launching our statewide summer safety campaign: “Baby, It’s Hot Inside.”



Commissioner Causey, who also serves as the Chair of Safe Kids North Carolina, will kick-off this campaign with a hot-cars demonstration at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Burlington Fire Station 4 in Burlington, N.C.  This demonstration will show how quickly a vehicle can heat to dangerous, sometimes deadly temperatures.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will be in Cumberland County on Thursday, July 9, to visit fire departments, an insurance agency and present the Safe Kids NC Coalition of the Year award to Safe Kids Cumberland County.
