Scheduling COQB Exam
As of 9/1/2026, you may choose to schedule your test with QUEST.
Determining your Eligibility
You must get authorization from the NC Code Officials Qualification Board (the Board) to take an examination.

The NC Code Officials Qualification Board (COQB) approved transitioning to a remote online line live-proctored COQB exam. Until April 30, 2027, you may choose to test in-person at a PSI site or remotely. Beginning July 1, 2027 all COQB exams will be remote proctored online.
You will select remote proctored online testing (QUEST) or testing at a PSI location as part of the application process. Once you have completed your application, you will not be able to change the exam method.
