CONCORD, NC — Firefighters, public officials, and community leaders will take fundraising to new heights this week as the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM), the North Carolina Fire Chiefs Association, and the Firefighter Burned Children Fund host the “Heights 4 Hope” Rappel Event at the Embassy Suites in Concord on Thursday, May 14, and Friday, May 15.

More than 25 participants are scheduled to rappel 11 stories down the side of the Embassy Suites to raise awareness and funds for children recovering from burn injuries and families impacted by fire-related tragedies.

Concord Mayor Steve Morris, State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor and Concord Fire Chief Jake Williams will also participate in the event, rappelling down the building at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The event brings together firefighters, first responders, elected officials, and community supporters for a unique and highly visual fundraiser benefiting programs and resources provided through the Firefighter Burned Children Fund.

“This event is about more than just the rappel,” said State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor. “It’s about supporting children and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives while also bringing the fire service and community together for an important cause.”

Media outlets are encouraged to attend for live visuals, interviews, and participant coverage throughout the event.
